Bihar beat Orissa by an innings and 226 runs on the last day of their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna today. This was Orissa’s 18th defeat and 7th by an innings in 22 Ranji Trophy match against Bihar.
Orissa started the match on a disastrous note as they were bundled out for 72 after captain NN Swamy won the toss and opted to bat. In reply, Bihar rode on a century by Ramesh Saxena and a half-century each by Subroto Das, Jodh Singh and G Tilak Raj to declare at 410 for seven.
Trailing by 338 runs in the first innings, Orissa were bowled out for 112 in the second innings to lose the match by a huge margin. Orissa wicketkeeper-cum-opening batsman Daniel Rout and Rabi Narayan Panda made their first-class debut in this match.
